Fairy Tale Weddings

********************

********************

Welcome on this special day celebrating the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. As children we read Fairy Tales and dream of our Prince awakening us from our sleep and taking us to his castle to be married. Then we grow up and realize that fairy tales do only belong in childhood.....or do they? For one young woman today her fairy tale did come true and she indeed did marry her prince. Wishing them both every happiness and peace in the years to come.....

Happy Easter From The Easter Bunny

Easter Blessings from Cornwall, I wonder if the Easter Bunny is up and about yet. Will he be hopping his way around with his basket full of colourful eggs, toys and candy for children to find when they wake in the morning? Along with Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy, to name but a few, the Easter Bunny is part of the magic of childhood...

Have they delivered their eggs already, surely not?

Or is this darling little kitten helping them?

A Child awake already greeting the Easter Bunny

This little girl has found a basket full of colourful eggs

The origin of the Easter Bunny tale appears to have begun in Germany in the 1600's and it was not until the 1800's that the first edible Easter Bunnies were made, again in Germany. The bunnies at the time were made of pastry and sugar and not chocolate as some are seen today...
~~~~~~~
The tale of the Easter Bunny travelled to America with German settlers in the 1700's where is was passed on and is now known world-wide. However in northwest european folklore the ''Easter Bunny'' is in fact an hare not a rabbit...According to tradition, children would build brightly coloured nests, often out of caps and bonnets, and hide them in secluded areas of their homes. Children would wait in anticipation the night before Easter morning before discovering what treats had been left in their nests. Very similar to Christmas Eve. Many a disturbed sleep must have been had by both parents and child...
Chicks dressed in their finery, another symbol of Easter
''Off you go little chicks''
Along with the Easter Bunny the egg is also seen as a tradition at this time. This was seen as symbols of the rising fertility of the earth. So this might explain why the rabbit and egg became an Easter tradition...
Carrying his precious gifts back home
What fun finding the hidden eggs
Another Tradition associated with Easter is the good old Easter Egg Hunt. Decorated eggs, either real hard-boiled eggs, artificial or made of chocolate, are hidden in various places for children to find. Traditionally eggs were seen as a symbol of rebirth of the earth in Pagan celebrations. I remember my friends and I organizing egg hunts for our children and still finding eggs some weeks later. I might just start it again when my three grandees are a little older..lol..
Off on his holidays but managed to save an egg for himself
''May my dolly have one of your eggs please''
Best Easter Wishes
A Happy Easter
I hope you have a lovely Easter. My three grandees should be visiting Sunday afternoon and if the weather is dry I may just take them on the beach for a walk. Who knows, we may find some eggs in the sand dunes that the Easter Bunny left behind!!!
Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx
********************
********************
Hello from Cornwall where the sun has once again graced us with her warmth. I hope this weather lasts till Easter and is a sign of a good summer ahead......
Although I have been out for short walks I have been busy around the house with 'De-cluttering'. The things I have accumulated over the years but what I still hold dear are the many vintage photographs and postcards I have collected. Even as a child I had a passion for them. I would like to share with you today a small sample of my collection. Please feel free to use them for your own personal use or on your blog, etc, but please do not sell the images or use them in items to sell, thank you...Enjoy
PRATT'S MARKET
A short walk from where I live is a former Methodist Chapel which has recently been re-furbished following a fire last year. It is known locally as Pratt's Market after a former owner...
Pratt's Market, Hayle, Cornwall March 2011
It houses numerous shops but the one I am going to show you today is The Sleepy Hollow owned by my very good friend Allie & her husband. Apologies for some of the blurry photos but standing on tiptoe taking photos is not the ideal way to do it...lol...
THE SLEEPY HOLLOW
Allie always awaits her customers with a cheery smile Hello, having lunch? What No smile? (Allie doesn't like her photo taken..lol..)
I've named her Elvia, I wonder why?
