As a child I believed in Santa Claus, Faeries, and suchlike and I still believe in the spirit of the magic I felt then. Within each of us is the essence of the child we once were, which becomes evident at times such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter. With this in mind I wanted to create a place where I could visit for a while to escape the pressures of being an adult..lol.. Who doesn't want to visit a Fairy Ring, touch the waters of a Holy Well, see a Unicorn fly or believe that Santa visits once a year!!! Mixed in with this will be snippets of interest, daily life, crafts, tales, fables and things that go bump in the night...and as my name suggests witches and suchlike. So do drop in again and just leave a note for the folks back home ''Away with the Faeries, be back soon''...
'That's the thing about magic. You've got to know its still here, all around us, or it just stays invisible for you' ~Charles de Lint quotes~
About Me
KernowWitch
My name is Chrissy and I live in Cornwall with hubby Andy, a furry family of 4 cats & 2 neurotic Border collie dogs. Together we all share a pre-1830 house in constant need of renovation, affectionately called ‘The Hovel’. Some unseen residents also share our home and for the most part are well behaved!!! Our home is filled to the brim with an assortment of interesting finds, hubby has another word for it but I think secretly he likes them! I am a self-confessed hoarder & clutter bug with a ‘designer’ home, I created it & there isn’t another one like it... Originally from Nottingham we decided to move to Cornwall some years ago & never regretted it. With its beaches, Holy Wells, standing stones, fishing harbours & quaint villages living in Cornwall feels like being on permanent holiday. I have one son and am a nana to three gorgeous little children. I have many interests such as crafts, history, myths & legends, etc, & love anything vintage, the older the better. I am also a passionate family historian & so decided to combine my interests to see where it takes me.
Thorn Hailshimmer. She is the protector of the lonely and lives in brambles and blackberry bushes. She is only seen when the first flowers begin to blossom. She wears purple and green like berries and leaves. She has cheery turquoise wings like a butterfly.
The Magic of Christmas lingers on Though childhood days have passed Upon the common round of life A holy spell is cast ~Old Celtic verse~
